SLAMUARY 2008
Gustavo Mendoza vs. Robbie Gilmore
Gustavo was led to the ring by Rubio, his trusted Secretary of Defense. This would be Robbie’s first match in the PWA and things did not exactly go his way. Gustavo utilized his distinct size advantage and ring experience to dominate Robbie with his finishing manuever the "P.O.W."
3:10 Express Interview:
PWA’s ace reporter Johnny Bravo conducted the first interview with Eddie Craven and Kid Ransom, otherwise known as The 3:10 Express. With black ten gallon hats, large gold belt buckles, and a bullwhip to match, Craven and Ransom made their intentions known as they staked their claim on the PWA Tag Team Titles.
Steve Demarco vs. Franco Valentino:
Franco Valentino was escorted the ring by the sultry Vixen. Valentino immediately drew the ire of the fans, as he came out to Mr. Perfect’s theme music. Demarco and Valentino are no strangers to one another, as they were most recently a tag-tea m in the PWA. Demarco soon left the tag- team when as he states, “Franco just became too full of himself, and he started watching matches of Mr. Perfect over and over, and just became infatuated with the wrestling legend. If you ask me, the trouble didn’t start until Vixen came around.” When the bell rang, these former friends went at each other with no regard for the other’s well being. After a very physical match, Demarco looked to finish off Valentino with the “Perfect Plex”, but Franco countered and hit Demarco with a modified F5 for the pin.
Rosa Salvaje vs. Lady Poison
This was probably the most eagerly awaited contest of the evening! Two of the PWA’s hottest ladies went after each other in a brawl to settle it all! Still fuming from their encounter last month, Lady Poison and Rosa Salavaje faced each other again in a ladies match. The action was fast and furious, and Poison started things where she left off last month, with a tackling spear to Rosa’s midsection. Rosa fired back at Poison, eyes on fire, fists ablazing! It wasn’t long before the action spilled outside of the ring and into the front row seats! Once back inside the ring, both ladies continued to battle when suddenly out of nowhere came KELLY KEVIN! Kelly proceeded to use the Diamond Cutter on both Rosa and Poison, and then told the crowd that she, would become the next PWA Womens Champion!
KRYLL (PWA Tag-Team Champions) vs. The Wrecking Crew (Tank Bishop & Mike B. Nasty) – Non Title Match
The PWA Tag-Team Champions KRYLL were without their manager, Lady Poison and her absence definitely evened the odds for this non-title match up. The Wrecking Crew came into this match with something to prove, as they have struggled against the champs in previous contest. It was Lady Poison herself that give both members of the Wrecking Crew the dreaded “Kiss of Death” late last year. This time however, the Crew came in focused and gave the tag-team champs all that they could handle. While the matched progressed, the evil, cheating ways of KRYLL came back to haunt them, as THE STEELE DAWGS (Jared Steele & Dawg Cheetum) jumped A.D. while he was outside the ring. The referee missed the interference, and KREET was left to fend for himself. It wasn’t long before the Wrecking Crew took advantage of the mismatch, as they performed a double flapjack on KREET to seal the victory. This match left us with more questions than answers for the PWA Tag-Team Division. One thing is for certain, THE STEELE DAWGS are showing themselves a force to be reckoned with!
#1 Contender’s Match:
V.I.P. vs. "The Pride"
There was alot riding on this match, as the winner would receive a title shot for the PWA championship at a later time. Two names were randomly drawn, earlier in the week, and it would be V.I.P. vs. The Pride (formally known as Chris Adams). The crowds, once solidly behind Chris Adams before his change of heart, were now behind V.I.P. These two contestants have battled each other fiercely over the last year, and tonight was no exception. This match had it all, technical prowess, high flying action, and non-stop brawling! It finally came down to who wanted it more and that was V.I.P.! Having scored the pinfall and earning a shot at the PWA title, VIP left the arena on cloud nine. It was The Pride however, who had his feelings hurt on this night. “I gave everything to you people, I got a concussion for you, and no one cares, well…I QUIT THE PWA”! With that, The Pride ended his affiliation with PWA. But it wouldn’t be the last that we saw Chris Adams.
Team 3-D vs. Brett Idol & NEICO
It was clearly supposed to be a friendly exhibition match, Devon and his prize student, Pat Brinks faced NEICO and PWA Champ Bret Idol in the main event of the evening. Booker T was supposed to be at ringside to mentor his own PWA students, but he was called away earlier that evening by an emergency phone call. We would later find out that call was just a part of the devious plan of Team 3-D. The match was an instant classic, with all four talents giving their all. As the match continued, Devon could disguise his feelings no longer, as he illegally pulled NEICO’s groin into the ring post. Even throughout all of Team 3-D’s constant rule breaking, Idol and NEICO still had a chance, but it was THE PRIDE, Chris Adams’ interference that cost the PWA stars their match, and worse saw them both go through tables. Adams stood defiantly in the ring as Devon and Pat Brinks both raised and viciously slammed Idol and NEICO through tables! Booker T and the rest of the PWA team rushed the ring to save their comrades, while Team 3-D ran out the door to an awaiting limo. One thing is for certain, the war between Booker T’s PWA and Team 3-D is not over by a long shot!
