Christmas Chaos II

by Charles Rice
December 28th 2007

On a night that PWA was celebrating its one year anniversary, just days away from the beginning of the New Year, the stars of the PWA pulled out all the stops and made Christmas Chaos one of the most memorable shows to date!

Atlas vs. Gabe Hollier:
PWA newcomer Atlas showed us why he is a force to be reckoned with in the PWA. In a match that pitted the big man against Gabe Hollier, the fans were given an intense match to kick the show off. What appears to be even more intense than Atlas's in ring ability is his mouth. Before and during his match fans were forced to listen to him and his manager E.J. Smooth proclaim just how great he was. This only served to spur the fans towards the Brazoria County native, Gabe Hollier.

The more the crowd rallied behind Hollier, the more Atlas seemed to run his mouth. At one point it looked like Hollier was going to be able to take Atlas down and pull out the win, but it was not to be. In the end, the size and strength of Atlas proved to be too much for Hollier to overcome. After slamming Gabe to the mat and picking up the decisive victory, Atlas did what he does best ...getting right up in the camera he continued to talk about how great he is. Word going around is that not too many of the stars on the PWA roster are pleased with Atlas's cocky attitude. Is it only a matter of time before Atlas runs his mouth to the wrong person in the back and finds out he has bitten off more than he can chew? Or, is Atlas really as great as he claims to be?

Gustavo Mendoza vs. Too Cold Scorpio:
In a re-match from last month's show PWA fans saw Gustavo Mendoza squaring off against Too Cold Scorpio. This match Was re-signed because as far as Mendoza was concerned he had been robbed the month before and wanted a chance to prove that he was better than Too Cold Scorpio. Both men laid it all on the line in a hard fought contest and it seemed that the match could go either way. The one thing that Too Cold Scorpio hadn't counted on was that Gustavo and his Secretary of Defense, Rubio, had a trick up their sleeves. With the referee distracted, Rubio took advantage of the situation and was able to get a pair of brass knuckles in the ring to Gustavo. Unbeknownst to the ref, Gustavo used that same pair of brass knucks to lay Too Cold Scorpio out to a loud chorus of boos from the fans. Gustavo's plan didn't stop there. He then lay down on the mat placing Too Cold Scorpio on top of him and the brass knucks by his side. When the ref saw this he rang for the bell immediately calling for a disqualification on Too Cold Scorpio. It looked as if Gustavo had gotten his revenge. However, Gustavo and Rubio's celebration was a premature one. Upon coming to, Too Cold Scorpio, with the help of the fans, was able to get the match restarted for 5 more minutes. Less than 60 seconds was all that Too Cold Scorpio needed though. As soon as the bell rang Gustavo received a super kick to the face and then was the victim of moonsault leg drop which helped secure a three count to pick up the win for Too Cold Scorpio. As Too Cold Scorpio celebrated in the ring, Gustavo could be seen scowling. When reached for comment later on Gustavo and Rubio made it clear that Too Cold Scorpio had not seen the last of them.

One man who made his presence felt at Christmas Chaos was the 7 foot tall Cyrus. Although he did not have a match on the card for the evening that didn't stop him from getting involved in the middle of Steve De Marco's match with Nemesis. Laying both men out swiftly, Cyrus demanded a mic. Cyrus made his agenda pretty clear. He was tired of not being noticed and said he would continue to cause havoc until he was. Members of the PWA roster better get ready because there is no telling what this monster of a man will do next.

Franco Valentino vs. Surfin Surge:
Franco Valentino, escorted to the ring by the lovely “Vixen” was in action against Surfin’ Surge in a match that was hard fought on both men's parts. Franco appears to have been watching too many Mr. Perfect clips, as he has began to emulate the Hall of Fame grappler. In the end it was Valentino who pulled out the victory with a “Perfect Plex”.

Tag Team Title Match – KRYLL Defends against STEELE DAWGS:
The rivalry between STEELE DAWGS (Jared Steele & Dawg Cheetum) and The PWA Tag-Team Champions KRYLL only seemed to gain momentum. In a match where the champions were facing off against their number one adversaries all hell seemed to break loose. KRYLL was intent on remaining the tag team champs and both Dawg and Steel could practically feel the gold on their waists. That's how bad both teams wanted the victory in this one. It was obvious that there was more than tag team gold at stake. All members involved had their pride on the line as well. It seemed as if Dawg and Steele were on their way to becoming the newest PWA tag team champions until Lady Poison found a way to get involved. This however did not sit well with Rosa, who was also at ring side. Both ladies climbed up on the ring apron and proceeded to trash talk to each other from opposite sides of the ring. Sooner than anyone could stop them both ladies were in the ring and Rosa was on the receiving end of a vicious spear from Lady Poison. Their cat fight continued and gave KRYLL the opening they needed to hit Steele with a “De-Vidor” to pick up the victory. After the match emotions were running high and Dawg and Rosa got into a battle of words over what had happened. No sooner had the argument started than the two made up and the team of Dawg/Steel along with Rosa headed to the back. While Steele and Dawg may not have won the prestigious gold on that night it is safe to say that the rivalry between both teams is far from over. On another interesting note the stage had been set for a showdown between Rosa and Lady Poison!

NEICO & SAMSON vs. JAYKUS PLISSKIN & THE PRIDE
As if the night hadn't been crazy enough already we saw Jaykus and “The Pride” Chris Adams taking on Neico and a mystery partner. This match was the end result of a confrontation gone bad earlier in the evening. Essentially Jaykus and the Pride were trying to tell Neico that no one in the PWA liked him and were going on about just how much better each of them was than him. Neico having heard enough grabbed a chair and ran both men out of the ring towards the safety of the backstage area. However, the challenge had been made and it was going down later in the evening. As Jaykus and Adams waited in the ring the two seemed to ooze confidence , and as Neico's music hit and he made his way to the ring alone, everyone in the arena could see the smiles on Plisskin and Adams’ faces. Much to their chagrin though, Neico stopped towards the top of the entrance and waited. Suddenly the rip of the guitar and the voice of Axl Rose filled the arena and the fans all wondered who was making his way to the ring to the tune of "Welcome to the Jungle" ? All of the sudden SAMSON burst through the curtain causing one of the loudest cheers of the night from the fans. He and Neico made a run for the ring and it was on! The hatred between Neico and Jaykus could be felt as the two battled back and forth. It was evident that there was no love lost between any of the four men in the ring though. This was one match that seemed more like an all out brawl as opposed to a typical wrestling match. As the action spilled out of the ring it looked like Neico and Sampson had the upper hand. As Neico made his way to the top rope it was clear he had one thing in mind, that being to take out both Adams and Jaykus. As he soared off the top rope it looked like he was going to do just that. Adams and Jaykus had other plans in mind though and both moved out of the way just before Neico came crashing down. This caused him to not only smash in to the unprotected concrete floor but also took him out of the match. With the advantage clearly with Adams and Jaykus they went in for the kill on Sampson. If the fans and more importantly Jaykus and Adams learned anything from this match it was to never count Samson out. A few spears later and Samson had Adams rolled up for the 3 count and secured the win for his team. This match did little in ending the ongoing feud between Jaykus and Neico and it's a safe bet that the two will meet again sometime in the future. As far as Adams goes, all this match did was seem to enhance his already growing aggravation with the PWA.

PWA Championship Match
Brett Idol (PWA Champion) vs. Eddie Craven (w/Kid Ransom):

The PWA Championship was on the line as crowd favorite Brett Idol went one on one against the PWA’s newest hombre, Eddie Craven. Craven, along with Kid Ransom make up the 3:10 Express, but tonight was a singles contest and it would be for all the gold. Craven and Kid Ransom made their way to the ring amid the jeers from the Pasadena crowd. To his credit, the fans never really got to Craven, but merely seemed to fuel his fire for the PWA title belt. Brett Idol came to the ring as a conquering champion, having been on quite a winning streak lately. The match started as expected, with both athletes sizing each other up as part of a feeling out process. Craven underestimated Idol’s strength, as he challenged Brett to hit him with a series of shoulder tackles. One of those tackles eventually knocked Craven clear from the ring, which allowed Brett to sport Craven’s signature cowboy hat. This really got the outlaw riled up, as he mounted a vicious attack on the champion. Craven’s rough bunkhouse style kept the champion on edge the entire night, nearly losing the title. However, Idol has worked too hard to get to the mountain top, and he ultimately showed why he is the PWA champion. Following a key reversal, Idol climbed the top turnbuckle and executed a perfect 450 degree splash to get the pinfall over Eddie Craven!

Main Event:
Booker T vs. Rob Van Dam

How huge was this? Two of wrestling’s biggest superstars facing off against one another for the one year anniversary of the PWA! Booker T and Rob Van Dam, close to fifty wrestling championships between these two warriors, not to mention six World Heavyweight Titles as well. It was a classic matchup as these two titans battled each other tooth and nail. Before the match, Booker graciously thanked RVD for making this one year anniversary event special. RVD thanked Booker for inviting him, and assured the crowd that this would be a fantastic match.

When the match began, the crowd’s support was evenly split between the hometown hero Booker T, and Mr. Monday Night, RVD. Chants of LET’S GO BOOKER, mixed with RVD! The contest went back and forth, with no one gaining the upper hand. Booker T finally got RVD with his guard down, and connected with a high back kick. It was suddenly showtime, as the CEO of the PWA treated all of the fans to an impromptu “spinarooni”! This move however gave RVD a much needed breather, and he utilized it to surprise Booker with a back kick of his own. Fists and feet continue to fly as the match wore on, and the referee made several near fall counts for both grapplers. The match came to an end, as Booker caught RVD on the top turnbuckle as he attempted a high suplex. RVD impressively countered, and rolled Booker T up into a small package to get the win. Fans later showed their respect and adoration for RVD, and they waited in line for more then two hours for an autograph opportunity with Mr. PPV, Mr. Monday Night, The Whole F’N show…RVD!
